2018 Classes

Online Sales for classes and tickets is now CLOSED.

However, we want you to see what was offered in 2018.
Check our 2019 classes beginning in December 2018.

Education is important to our goals as quilters. Learning the basics can help you be successful in all your projects. Branching out into new techniques can lead to satisfying experiences with needle, thread and fabric.

We are privileged to offer classes with experienced teachers. Brief class descriptions are listed here and you may visit the Teacher page for bio and some supply list info.

Classes will be located on the Mezzanine Level of the Conference Center, with elevator access. You will be directed where to go at the lobby check in desk.

Things to note:

  • Registration page will allow purchase of classes, event tickets and show admission. Purchase together and pay only one $1.00 convenience fee per person.

  • Classes 5 hours or more have show admission for the other day of the show included in the class fee. If your class does not include show admission, you may purchase at the same time as class(es). Be sure to bring your ticket confirmation for your class and  to enter the show.

  • Kit fees are paid directly to the teacher on the day of the class.

  • The number of students is limited in each class, so register and pay for classes early to be sure you get your choice.

  • Some supply lists will be sent by email after registration is validated.

  • Shuttle service from the suggested parking lots/garage will be running during show hours on a circuit route.

  • Many classes are handwork projects. Classes that require you to bring a machine are marked with **. You may bring your machine and supplies on the shuttle.

  • Doors open at 10:00 am. Location of classes will be posted at the event.

  • Class registrations must meet minimum students. Cancellations, if necessary, will be emailed to students by April 24.

Some classes may be available at the door of the show.
Darlene will have supplies in the classroom.

Take a minute and check out the class descriptions and ask at admissions for availability.

SATURDAY CLASSES

S301  Sashiko
Ako Shimozato

Sashiko (shown in vest above) is a Japanese traditional stitchery, a form of running stitch, and it is literally translated as “stabbing” stitchery. Sashiko stitchery originated in Japan hundreds of years ago, for reinforcement of worn clothing. Over many years, the women of Japan developed this stitchery into stitching Japanese motif designs for embellishing fabrics. This six hour class fee includes Show Admission for Friday. Handwork.

S304  Oils & Foils
Colleen Wise
Saturday 10:30-4:30
$65  Kit fee $24.00

Dip into surface design!  You can add dimension and interest to your quilts using oil bars and foils. Oil bars and oil pastels are usually used by artists, not quilters.  Either can be used on fabric.  They blend and you can create soft airbrushed looks or blend colors right on the fabric.  Foiling can add glitz to your projects.  The “foil” is a spray of metallic particles on a plastic sheet, then adhere the particles to fabric.  The foil I will bring to class is designed for T-shirts and banners. This is a technique class. (Not making a quilt.) We’ll do exercises to learn the techniques.  You’ll go home with a notebook of examples for future reference. This six hour class fee includes Show Admission for Friday.

S305  **Embellishing
