Supply List
*Paintstiks – a minimum of 3 colors
*Brushes – a minimum of 3 brushes, I recommend 2 Paintstik brushes (short stubby) and 1 Stencil brushes (a bit longer and softer).
*Stencils – one Art Stencil minimum (stencils for marking quilting lines do not work very well).
*Fabric – Minimum of 8 pieces, no smaller than 14” x 14”. Please pre-wash using a non-detergent soap (I use Synthrapol). Cotton – darks and lights, with a pattern or without. Optional Fabrics – Silk, Silk/Cotton, Rayon, Wool, Velvet (low nap is better). Must be able to heat set all fabrics.
Paper Towels, Blue Painters Tape, Kitchen Parchment Paper, Sharp knife or potato peeler, Scissor, Sticky Notes, Citra-Solve or *Brush Soap

Collage and Art Quilts on LongArm

There will be muslin on longarm for practice before we begin our collage paintings.
Students will bring a half yard piece of fabric suitable for a sea-scapey type collage…..choose something you will love to work with, and color or print that suits your “style”
Thread will be provided, as well as other fabrics to create your collage “painting”. There will also be a piece of tulle to cover a fat quarter size work of art.
The teacher will bring many threads, fabrics, yarns, and other goodies to include in your collage.
There will be a $5.00 class fee for supplies.
The only supplies the student needs to bring is the ½ yard of fabric for the collage background.
Bring your sense of fun and adventure…..this will be a free-wheeling class with lots of ideas for you to create paintings in the future!!

Ruler & Hand Guided Custom Quilting

Fabric samples will be available in class. Teacher will have a few personal rulers available for students to borrow, but if you have some, bring your own. We will be using a straight edge and curved ruler in our class exercises, these are the basics needed to get you started. If you purchase rulers, be sure they are for long Arm (1/4 in thick).

Friction Pens, a dark friction pen works well for practice as we can easily make corrections. Just don’t use friction pens on your quilts, the do not really go away.

$25 kit fee for other materials includes: 4-5" square indigo dyed fabric (with 3 designs on fabric), 2 pieces of 5"x10", 3 weights of sashiko thread, 2 needles, 5 photocopies of designs; transfer paper and transparent plastic paper, white marking pencil, needle threader and 1/2 yard of yukata cotton fabric for backing.
